Priority, Not an Option

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in situations where we feel like we’re being treated as an option rather than a priority. It can be a challenging and disheartening experience that leaves us questioning our worth and value. In such moments, it’s important to remember that we have the power to shape our own lives and determine how we allow others to treat us. It may be a difficult decision to make, and there might be a part of you that questions whether it’s you, the other person, or just an irrational feeling causing the discomfort. However, dwelling on the reasons behind it won’t necessarily benefit anyone, and it can often be a futile exercise.
Instead, focus on your own well-being. If something or someone makes you feel consistently bad, it’s important to prioritize yourself and remove yourself from that situation. Walk away and never look back. Of course, circumstances may prevent us from physically walking away immediately, but we can still maintain a sense of emotional detachment until things work themselves out. It’s also essential to treat people in the same way they treat you. Respect, affection, and care should be a two-way street. While love can sometimes be unbalanced, ideally, it should be mutual. If it isn’t, it may be a sign that it’s not the right fit for you. There’s no point in being overly caring and undervalued in a relationship.
It’s natural to worry about being alone for a while after making such a decision but rest assured that better things will come into your life. However, it’s crucial not to simply wait around for someone to come and choose you. Instead, focus on living a busy and purposeful life. Engage in activities that bring you joy, such as pursuing a hobby. By immersing yourself in these activities, you’ll find fulfilment and open yourself up to new opportunities.
Taking a step back and looking at the situation from the other person’s point of view can provide valuable insights. If you genuinely desire someone’s presence in your life, you wouldn’t treat them as an option. You would willingly give them a place of importance. If you find it difficult to prioritize them, it’s possible that you would be willing to let them go easily. In the interest of your own well-being, it’s crucial not to be that person in someone else’s life.
Remember, removing yourself from a situation where you’re treated as an option is an act of self-respect and self-love. By making room for people who value and prioritize you, you create the space for healthier and more fulfilling relationships. Trust that in time, you will attract the love and companionship you deserve.
